Employee Spotlight November 2019

The CQL workgroup set very ambitious goals designed to improve processes and services for people enrolled in Kalix programs. Every team member has been actively working on one of more sub-groups on each of the initiatives (using the discovery process in planning meetings, goal training and monitoring, POM training and monitoring, staff training initiatives, etc.), meeting regularly to report on progress and implementation. Each initiative is already having an impact, and will continue to strengthen our performance as an agency. Thanks to each team member for committing your time and energy to this project!

Employee Spotlight September 2019

Congrats to Ashley Flom for receiving September’s Employee Spotlight. When a riding mower quit working down at East Totten Trail (we have a contract to mow and maintain two campgrounds near Lake Sakakawea), Ashley figured out how to get the inoperable mower on to a trailer and to a nearby shop to be serviced, and made it a team project for the work crew. Ashley’s problem-solving and persistence minimized downtime, and the crew was able to get back to work as usual the next day.

Employee Spotlight August 2019

Congrats to August’s Employee Spotlight recipients, Megan Buee and Chelsea Nelson. A few months after implementation of the SIS-based payment system in April 2018, we had long lists of discrepancies, missing documents, and outstanding payments. Megan worked with a contact at the Department of Human Services payment office, DDPMs, and RCs to figure out how all the pieces of information work together, how to respond to various error codes, and how to rebill correctly to generate payment. More than a year later, everything was successfully paid and the process was working smoothly! After a switch to healthier evening snacks at...

Kalix Recycling Center Celebrates 25 Years of Service to the Minot Community

The Kalix Recycling Center opened in June 1994 to offer Minot and area residents an opportunity to have a positive impact on the environment by recycling various commodities.  For the last 25 years, residents of northwest North Dakota have utilized the Kalix program to recycle more than 153,000,000 pounds of materials including cardboard, paper, newspaper, magazines, aluminum cans, tin cans, and plastic bottles.  Recycling saves raw materials, landfill space, and energy (it takes less energy to manufacture items from recycled materials than from virgin materials). The Kalix Recycling Center is celebrating 25 years of business from July 9th through August...

McKayla also assisted the employer to identify and assign job tasks based on employee strengths. Thanks in part to McKayla’s help, both employees are making progress on their jobs! Alyson is in charge of the DayHab garden this year. She involved people in shopping for...
