Giving Tuesday 2015

After Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes GIVING TUESDAY – a national day set aside to take a break from the craziness of shopping and give back to our communities.  If you like the concept of giving online, please plan to join us on Tuesday, December 1st.  Note:  a small fee is charged by PayPal to process online donations.

Funding for programs doesn’t cover everything.  Despite recognition that spending time with people and participating in community events has a positive impact on learning, socialization, and behavior, transportation is under-funded in most programs that serve people with disabilities.  That’s why we turn to you for help.

Your gift of $14 gives normal opportunities to people with disabilities – not just rides to work and appointments, but also connections with family and friends – for one person for one week!  Your donation allows Jim* to visit his elderly mother in her home once a week so that they can watch a football game together.  Larry visits his brother in a nursing home.  Becky and her wheelchair can’t get in and out of a regular vehicle, so Kalix staff give her a ride to her family’s home for holidays.  Sandy’s family lives in another state, so she spends time with them using Skype on her iPad.  All of these examples have something in common:  your generosity allows people with disabilities to build and maintain family connections.  That is a major part of what the holidays and life are about – for all of us.

All funds raised from the Giving Tuesday 2015 campaign will be used to support family connections for people with disabilities.

  1. Like the KalixND Facebook page! Check often for recognition of our donors.  If you prefer to remain anonymous, please note that on the envelope.Other options for supporting people with disabilities:
  2. Bring your plastic water bottles, etc. to the Recycling Center at 605 27th St SE.
  3. Consider employing a person with disabilities in your business. Contact us to find out how you can make a difference in somebody’s life by including them in a regular work environment.
  4. Make a contribution to the Kalix endowment fund at the Minot Area Community Foundation or the Joseph’s Community Health Foundation. After state tax credits and federal tax deductions, your donation of $5000 could actually cost you as little as $1,020-1,750!

All contributions are tax deductible.  Every family connection is important.  Every ride counts.  Every donation is appreciated.  Please plan to participate in GIVING TUESDAY!
