Employee Spotlight June 2019

Congrats to June’s Employee Spotlight recipients, McKayla Thompson and Alyson Rupe!

I enjoy working for Kalix because I wake up every day knowing I can make a difference in somone’s life. I get to work with a lot of different people and every day is something new. I love how the supervisors are flexible and willing to work with my schedule.

Although McKayla regularly works in DayHab, she was nominated for her work while subbing for several weeks in Employment Services. She assisted two people on community placements to develop some job skills, including using Souris Basin Transportation, clocking in, and starting to work independently. McKayla also assisted the employer to identify and assign job tasks based on employee strengths. Thanks in part to McKayla’s help, both employees are making progress on their jobs!

I’ve worked with Kalix day hab for 6 years and started working on the garden back in March. I enjoyed learning how to manage a full garden, which I’ve never done before. I love working with a diverse group of people and co-workers, and enjoy taking on fun, challenging projects.

Alyson is in charge of the DayHab garden this year. She involved people in shopping for supplies and selecting seeds and seedlings for planting. Then she made sure that people were able to participate in planting and watering. The garden looks great and the gardeners enjoy continuing to care for the plants as they grow!
